ABOUT US

Splinter was born out of Manuel Burger and Marco Karman's passion to make beautiful things. The idea originated in Manuel's garage. He had thought that a wooden fatbike for his daughters could be something nice and fun to make. The Splinter turned out to be a hit, the comments and compliments at traffic lights, intersections or just in passing were immense. After an off-road trip through Albania in 2023, Manuel and Marco decided to combine their creativity and start a company to make Splinter available to others. Splinter Bikes was off and running.

OUR AMBITION

With every bicycle, we make the world a little more beautiful. Pompous maybe, but that's what we're aiming for. We make the most spectacular, extraordinary and beautiful bicycle. And at the same time we want to be a company with care for the environment and social responsibility.

  • Working together with companies that give people with a distance to the labor market a chance.
  • Produce in the Netherlands to keep our footprint as small as possible.
  • Plant trees to compensate for what we don't do so well yet.

And the most sustainable thing is to use our goods longer. We tackle that together with you through our lifespan extension package.

Design

OUR BIKE

We make an exclusive, handmade electric bicycle with contemporary craftsmanship and technology. The wooden frame makes Splinter unique. The frame is TÜV tested and very strong. It is also resistant to rain, sun and wind due to a specific composite coating. Furthermore, the parts are universal so any bike shop can repair it. Our bike thus offers a perfect balance between style, functionality and reliability.
SWEET-1

PLANTING TREES

We strive to keep our carbon footprint minimal by, among other things, producing locally with FSC wood. But we cannot avoid importing parts by sea or air; we compensate for that by planting trees, a fitting action for us as a maker of wooden bicycles. For this we cooperate with Trees for All, a foundation that takes care of (re)forestation projects in the Netherlands and abroad. For every bike sold, we plant 10 trees. 5 in the Netherlands, 5 outside Europe.
So far we have 40 trees planted with www.treesforall.nl
